38 Degrees brings you together with other people to take action on the issues that matter to you and bring about real change!
38 Degrees members work together to bring about real change in the UK by taking action on the issues that we all care about.
WHAT IS 38 DEGREES?
38 Degrees is one of the UK's biggest campaigning communities, with over 2.5 million members. We share a desire for a more progressive, fairer, better society and come together to decide which issues we campaign on and the actions we‘ll take to help us achieve that.
Anyone can be a 38 Degrees member. We’re united by a set of shared values; to defend fairness, protect rights, promote peace, preserve the planet and deepen democracy.
38 Degrees puts power into people’s hands. We’re helping to strengthen democracy by giving 38 Degrees members a new way to be involved in politics. We want to be more than just voters and ensure our voices are heard all of the time, not just once every five years.
We are a community of people who want positive change. We are a loud and persistent knock on the door of the politicians, influencers and institutions who make the decisions that affect us all. We hold them to account and make sure they listen and respond to our calls for positive change.
38 Degrees is the angle at which an avalanche happens. Join 38 Degrees and be part of the avalanche for change. Anyone can become a member of 38 Degrees - it’s free and you can join just by signing a petition, or taking another action.
WHAT WE DO
Through the power of the internet, 38 Degrees members link up, discuss and vote to decide which issues we campaign on together.
We come together from across the UK to influence the institutions, like the government or big business, who make decisions that affect us all. Together, we take action to hold powerful people and organisations to account.
38 Degrees members use a lots of different tactics to bring about change, like signing petitions, emailing or phoning our MPs and chipping in to fund newspaper ads about our campaigns. We also get together to get our voices heard face-to-face, for instance by meeting up locally to hand petitions to our local MPs, or hosting discussions about the issues of the day. We also hold local celebrations when we have a campaign breakthrough.
38 Degrees members have contributed to some incredible, people-powered victories since we started working together to make change happen. We helped stop the government’s plans to sell off our ancient national forests. We stopped plans for a massive mega-dairy in Lincolnshire. We helped stop Donald Trump’s plans to build a golf course at the expense of families in Menie, Scotland, who were at risk of eviction.
38 Degrees members also helped convince the government to sign up to the EU Directive on human trafficking, helping prevent trafficking in the future as well as making sure victims are properly looked after.
